| The
Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception founded Marianhill Home for the Aged
in Pembroke Ontario
in 1954. Since its inception, Marianhill has aimed at providing quality
care for all residents. A dignified and loving response to the elderly has its
roots in the very early history of the Grey Sisters’ community, for Saint
Marguerite D'Youville was herself joyfully dedicated to ministering to the aged.
This tradition for loving respect remains today as the vital foundation of our
efforts.
Over
the last forty years, Marianhill has evolved into a 200-bed facility, offering
long term and chronic care, including
a palliative care unit and the Dr.
L.U. McCluskey Centre, which provides specialized services for individuals
suffering from dementing illness. Extensive community outreach programs include
Assisted Living, respite beds at Marianhill,
as well as Adult Day programs, which
operate in Pembroke, Killaloe and Barry's Bay. Marianhill also operates M.A.T.C.H.,
the Marianhill Action Team for Care giving in the Home. As well, Marianhill serves
the community with the Marianhill Kiwanis Audiology
Clinic. Marianhill
operates under the Charitable Institutions Act, Home for the Aged and
Rest Homes Act, Nursing Homes Act, Public Hospital Act, and the Long Term Care
Act.
The Board of Directors and staff members strive to follow the example of Saint
Marguerite d’Youville by offering compassionate care within Marianhill and
the community. We are guided by our Mission
Statement, our Values and
our Strategic Plan.
