Palliative Care

Palliative care is supportive, holistic care for individuals and families who are living with a terminal illness, usually at an advanced stage. Services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the client in each situation.

The Palliative Care Unit consists of three private rooms, lounge and kitchen areas that provide a quiet, private atmosphere for clients and their families during a stressful time of loss and bereavement. The unit allows people the privacy to be together as a family as well as the opportunity to participate in the dying process with their loved one.

The main components of palliative care include:

  • pain and symptom management
  • social, psychological, emotional, and spiritual support
  • caregiver support

Our philosophy and Mission are committed to providing quality care so that clients can live their remaining days in dignity and comfort, surrounded by family and people who love them. Admission to the Marianhill Palliative Care Unit is available to clients from the community, who meet the criteria for this program. Admission is on a referral basis and dependent on bed availability.
